playing chords on the 6 String Bass

Playing chords on a 6 string bass is in many ways the same as playing chords on a guitar. There are however a few differences. You can also play chords on a 4 string bass but the 6 string bass offers a lot more options because of the extra high string.

Most 6 string bass player use a high C string. This is the most logical string to choose since the difference between the strings stays the same, a perfect 5th interval (P5). Another option is to tune the string to a B. This makes it a little more difficult to play since the pattern on the strings changes. But if you also have your lowest string tuned to B you can simply use the same pattern of this string.
