ToneWorks PANDORA PX4D guitar and bass Effects Processor
ToneWorks announces two new models in its acclaimed Pandora series of pocket-sized, personal multi-effect processors — the dual-purpose PX4D for guitar and bass, and the PX4A for acoustic-electric guitar. These new models provide an array of advanced sonic tools for practice, performance and recording, all in a compact, easy to operate unit. The PX4D offers a variety of sounds that include vintage amps and a wide range of cabinets, as well as effects ranging from classic to distinctly unique. Designed specifically for acoustic-electric guitar, the PX4A can transform a piezo output (which has a tendency to be sterile-sounding) into many warm, rich and natural acoustic guitar body tones.
PX4D
Utilizing advanced REMS modeling technology, the PX4D offers 158 high-quality effect types, from realistic amp and speaker cabinet sounds to sophisticated effects. Up to seven effects can be linked at one time. A selection of 25 faithfully reproduced amplifier sounds and 23 new cabinet effect models have been specially created for the PX4D. The unit also provides 100 easily-editable preset programs and 100 user programs, for storing amp/cabinet combinations along with effects. For practice and songwriting, a Bass Canceller function can remove the bass sound from external audio sources.

Also utilizing REMS technology for rich and realistic processing, the PX4A offers 82 effect types, optimized for acoustic instruments. In addition to dynamic and time-based effects such as delay and echo, a variety of realistic mic and body effects simulate acoustic resonance and instrument mic’ing techniques. Also included is a notch filter effect for protection against feedback, plus an auto notch function that automatically detects the feedback point during performance. The PX4A features 50 preset programs and 50 user programs that allow up to eight simultaneous effects per program.
Both units include practice and performance functions that are easily accessible via the intuitive, knob-based interface and backlit LCD display. The TAP button can be used to set delay times or a rhythm pattern tempo. A sophisticated Phrase Trainer can record up to 30 seconds from an external audio source for looped playback, which can then be slowed down without affecting the pitch. While in Phrase Trainer mode, users can record any of the 100 PCM-based, built-in rhythm and bass patterns and their instrument simultaneously, then practice soloing over the recorded phrase. The AUX IN jack lets users play along with external audio sources, and a Key Transpose function can shift the key of the external audio for versatile rehearsal. An Auto Chromatic Tuner with a Mute function is also included.
The PX4D and PX4A can be powered by four AAA batteries for up to 10 hours of continuous use, or by an optional AC adaptor.
